There are times in my life, as I am sure there are in anyone’s life, when I am confronted with the feeling of uncertainty regarding my future.
That feeling is somehow deeply rooted in a very old memory of mine.
I was getting ready for school. It was a cold winter morning, I was tired, my mom put the coffee pot on the stove and left the kitchen.
I used to sit at the table, in the cold kitchen under a tungsten light bulb hanging from the ceiling, waiting to leave for school. The smell of coffee that spilled over from the moka pot and burnt when touching the stove, mixed with the perfume trail my mom left behind when leaving the kitchen.
I used to just sit there, tired and for some reason, in this moment of loneliness, my mind was trying to figure out what my life would look like in twenty years.
