Owd-eh-nah-tour-eh Odenaturae, the latest release from Rubini, is what you would get if you could bottle up the essence of spring. It is not only an ode to nature, as the name itself suggests, but also a poem dedicated to the invisible and often forgotten bond between human beings and nature.

Odenaturae inspires calm & peace. That being said, there is a trace of darkness in the background. Not in a gothic way, but more like a deep, unfulfilled curiosity, waiting to be demystified; as if from the sunny meadow you were in, you happened to catch a glimpse of the deep, dark forest a couple of feet away from you…
You can hear it tirelessly & patiently exhaling cold, humid, mossy air, reaching you at ground level.
Put your headphones on (really recommended), sit back and listen to how I imagined the sound of Odenaturae:

THE PLOT:

Odenaturae is inspired by the Bucolics written by Vergil (aka. Eclogues).
The Bucolics of Vergil consist of ten writings, extracts (eclogues), that mainly depict conversations between shepherds and also songs or singing contests. These conversations or songs act as means of expression in the face of constant changes in the socio-political aeras of life, but also touch upon the drama of unfulfilled romances and love life in general. Odenaturae could very well be an ode to a pastoral way of life, one where the connection with nature is a quintessential part of existence, a way of life in a total antithesis to what we witness today.
If you are the type of person that loves to walk barefoot through a blossoming field, you may want to try this one.
You pass by stacks of cozy smelling hay that dried out under the gentle sun. You find your feet tickled by the tall, green grass, wind gently sways surroundings, birds sing above you and you stop to taste wild berries and pick chamomile.
You pass by gardens on your way to the forest, where people just finished sprinkling their plants. The smell of wet basil & tomato leaves jump fences to follow you as you reach a tall, old linden tree. You make a pillow out of your jacket, place it carefully on a thick and steady root that’s protruding through the ground, and you lay your head to rest under the shadow of the protective linden.
As you sit there, you can’t help but sense a chilly layer of air that crawls at ground level to tickle the right side of your body. It’s the forest, not far away, that tempts you with its woods and groves that can provide the much needed break from the gradually warmer sun.
You pick up your jacket, you brush off the dry grass stuck to your clothes, you take the chamomile bunch with you and slowly walk down the path towards the forest.
You become smaller and smaller & the forest’s shadows cover you. I lose sight of your green shirt that blends in with the grove, as I slowly return to my gardening.
If all this sounds like a story you’d like to be parf of, then try to get your hands on a sample of Odenaturae.
